Where it all began, Thursday, February 6, 1964, Auditorium, Geology Bldg. The Time was 7:30 p.m., and about 50 students and faculty members showed up at the meeting. Everyone was enthusiastic about the club and so was born "The University of Texas Skin and SCUBA Diving Society". The name was later changed to University of Texas Underwater Society, University Underwater Society and then it's final incarnation, University SCUBA Club.

UNIVERSITY SCUBA CLUB - THE EARLY YEARS
I would like to thank Paul Johnston, for all the effort he has put in, creating the history of our club. Go to his site and check out what he has done. Just be sure and come back to this site and help give direction to this page.

This is the page that contains the early history of the club. Here.

I can clearly remember the nights, and days, that Robert Wogstad and I, got together and worked on signs to post around the campus letting people know about a new club that we wanted to form. I had just taken SCUBA classes, the summer of 1963, and I wanted a SCUBA club, but none existed, and so that was why Robert and I were busy putting up signs. That first night was a thrill when about 50 people showed at the first meeting.

Well, this web site is just like that first meeting and it is great to get back with old friends. Please help this site work. I placed a forum on the page a couple of hours ago and it should be running in a day or so. Use it, and let's stay in touch.
